I Hate Fridays

I hate them. I really do. Not all of them, just the ones where Elyssa goes to her dad's.

You know what I do? I work at school late. I cry on the way home. I read or watch a movie. I go to sleep.

I hate it.

Everyone I know has stuff to do or kids to be with or husbands to love. Not me. I get to be alone.

Yip. E.

It's all in your perspective, the way you choose to look at the situation. When my ex and I first divorced, I did that, too. Now, I look forward to the days that Lizard goes to her dad's house (or anybody else's house). As single parents, we need to have time to ourselves. Time to relax, to rejuvenate, to reflect. Time to be adults. Go do something that you love to do while she is gone. Get a pedicure. Watch a movie. Go on a date with your girlfriends. Come to our Single Parent Bible Study group. Read your Bible with no interruptions.
Once you realize that you have time to yourself to do whatever you want, it gets better. We all need a break from time to time. A sabbatical. Yours comes every other Friday night. Relish it.
Once you change your perspective and stop thinking that you've been left alone and instead think that you get to be alone, you will actually look forward to those Friday nights. It takes time and a change in your attitude first, though.

Perfectly said, but OUCH. You're right of course. I love the days that she's gone b/c I do need to re-charge. It's just something about the Friday that she leaves.

Perspective is everything! It's back to your Star Wars quote. Where is my focus?

Thanks for telling it like it is - I need that. :-)
